About the GC University Sialkot

On December 1, 1951, the honorable Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah (Mather-e-Millat) officially opened Government College for Women. Muneem-ud-Din served as the school's first dean. A well-known educator named Miss Kazmi took over as the school's second principal after Miss Muneem-ud-Din.  There were only 32 students and 10 faculty members when the college first opened. It increased to over 4500 students, with 71 out of 108 members of the teaching staff now employed, and 61 members of the non-teaching personnel. In 1989, the college was upgraded to become a postgraduate institution that offered master's degree courses in English, Urdu, and Islamiyat. The Higher Education Department launched the BS Hons. 4 Years Degree Program in 2010.  Keeping in view its educational progress, College attained the status of first Women University in Sialkot in 2012 and it was renamed as the Government College Women University.
