A public institution
called NUMS, or National institution of Medical Sciences, is situated in
Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. The National University of Medical Sciences is
accredited by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and the College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) for undergraduate and postgraduate
medical education and training. It is also recognized by the Higher Education
Commission of Pakistan (HEC) as a degree-awarding institution. It was started in
2015, and the Pakistan Army Medical Corps is in charge of it. Army Medical
College, a military-run medical institution, used to be connected with
Pakistan's National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), but it is now
one of the university's constituent colleges.
