About the Defence Housing Authority (DHA)

The Pakistan Army oversees the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), a real estate developer that manages housing and local government services for Defence neighborhoods all throughout the country. It is Pakistan's first and biggest residential community. It was made constitutional by a parliamentary legislation in 2002, and the Pakistan Army is in charge of running it under the chairmanship of the Defence Secretary. Originally founded in the 1970s with the primary goal of providing housing for active and retired military personnel, the company now sells the majority of plots in its new projects to civilians. A portion of the total plot count is reserved for military officers, martyrs' families, and other employees as a service benefit on installment payment plans that can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years.
