the Federal Public Service Commission
The Federal Public
Service Commission (FPSC) is a federal department of the Pakistani government
and is in charge of hiring bureaucrats and civil employees. Under British
colonial administration, the Public Service Commission was established for the
first time in 1926. Following independence, the Government of Pakistan Act
allowed for the establishment of the commission in Pakistan in 1947. The
chairman and the members make up the commission. According to Article 242 (IA)
of the Pakistani Constitution (1973), the chairman is chosen at the president's
discretion. On the Prime Minister of Pakistan's recommendation, the President
appoints the members. The secretary assists the commission and acts as a
liaison between it and its secretariat.
