The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) is an independent and autonomous organization that reports to the Interior Secretary of Pakistan. It oversees the management of the sensitive registration database for all Pakistani citizens as well as the regulation of government databases.

NADRA is also liable providing the citizens of Pakistan with computerized national identity cards, updating their sensitive information in government databases, and protecting the citizens' national identities from theft.[3][4] With more than 11,000 employees in more than 800 domestic offices and five international offices, it is one of the major government database institutions.
