The second-largest university in Punjab is Bahauddin Zakariya University, which was originally formed in 1975 as Multan University. The name was changed in 1979 to Baha-ud-din Zakariya, because of tomb great sufi Baha-ud-din Zakariya. It offers degree programs in more than 130 majors & minors, including biochemistry, pharmacy, engineering, humanities, business administration, law, music, art, IT, agriculture, and languages. It is a government institution that awards degrees.
